The Tons river flows through Garhwal, the western part of the Himalayan state of Uttaranchal, bordering Himachal Pradesh. With its source in the 20,720 ft high Bandarpunchh mountain, it is the biggest tributary of the Yamuna, and, in fact, carries more water than the Yamuna itself. One of the popular rafting expeditions at Uttarakhand is closed to the Tons River flowing through Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.

This experience offers us complete information on river expedition in India. The Tons demarcates the borders of Himachal Pradesh and West Uttrakhand. Lower Tons River Expedition is the normal rafting run and makes for a nice introductory run. On first phase we will visit Camp Lunagad, Tons river, located at 3600 ft above sea level in thick pine forest. From here we will move to Ringali Rest house - a British rest house. Then we will go further to Tiuni. The village is located on the confluence of the Pabbar and Tons rivers. Tiuni is nestled among forests of alpine paddocks and rhododendron. Further there is Icchari dam, which is one of the electrifying rafting expeditions in Uttarakhand. Icchari dam is our last destination.

The famous Himalayan peaks such as the Nanda Kot, Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Kedarnath Panchchuoli, is a great pace for tourists to visit ,engulfed with wild flowers and plush greenery, along with wild ferns and different varieties of moss and lakes like Roopkund Lake. It is one of the most beautiful scenic beauties one can imagine and which one would like to revisit again and again.

Tourists who would like some excitement can start trekking from Pauri. This is a beautiful hill station consisting of the snow capped peaks of the Himalayas. All along the way you will come across rich and dense forests of oak, pine and deodar along with variety of wildlife.

The Samadhi of famous freedom fighter Veer Chander Singh Garhwali will also fall on the way in Dudhatoli. An ideal trek for winter, it provides pure immaculate wilderness. The 4 days trek also includes hiking, camping and sightseeing.

Not many people use this trail for daily walks. In the end of the day tourists would be camping in the Binsar temple which consists of lord Shivas deity. The forests around are virgin and provide picturesque beauty of the snow capped Himalayan ranges and other mountains as well.
