About the Trek:
The Druk Path Trek in Bhutan is a 5N/6D trek that leads you through the rich forests and offers exemplary mountain views of the Himalayas and Mount Gangkar Puensam, from Paro to Thimphu.
You will begin your trek to Druk Path at Paro, in Bhutan and make your way towards Jili Dzong, Jangchu Laka, Jimilang Tsho Lake, Simkotra Tsho and Phajodhing, before completing your trek at Mothitang, down in the Thimphu Valley. You will begin at a height of 3480m and will gradually move up to a height of 4110m
The trek is a fairly simple one where you shall tread a distance of 58 kms over a span of 6 days, while admiring the breathtaking views of the mountains, vibrant flora, the gently flowing lakes, and most importantly, the blue pine forests that are a rare sight!
Druk Path Trek cost is inclusive of visa, accommodation, meals, airport pick-up and drop facility and internal transport during the trek. The Druk Path Trek will be conducted by an experienced English-speaking guide, accompanied by helpers
About the Druk Path:
Lose yourself amidst nature as you walk through the rocky terrain of Druk Path in Bhutan. This is one of the finest ways of exploring the pristine beauty of Bhutan while appreciating the magnificence of the Himalayas, as well. The Druk Path is a fairly simply climb, boasting of gorgeous landscapes that are rich with blue pines, rhododendron flowers, and fir.
The path leads you to a view of the Jili Dzong, a 16th century fortress, followed by the abundant green pastures of Jangchu Laka. Stroll along the calm waters of Jimilang Tsho Lake and Simkotra Tsho Lake.
Offer prayers at the Phajoding Monastery and then head back down towards the Thimphu Valley, while travelling through Mothitang, a suburb of the area. The lakes also offer fishing activities, for some entertainment while camping.
The Druk Path offers picturesque views of Mt. Gangkar Puensum, an unscaled peak of Bhutan and the world’s highest peak at a height of 7570m. All in all, with a monastery to meditate in, lakesides to camp at, and ethereal views to absorb, the Druk Path makes for a terrific trekking location!
Note: Accommodation for all nights will be in cold weather tents, on sleeping bags and insulated mats.
About the Activity:
- This twelve day trek takes you into an area adorned with a multitude of pristine, crystal clear lakes after starting your trek from Gynekha near Paro.
- As you walk amidst the shimmering lakes you’ll be treated to stunning views of the entire Himalayan mountain range and some of the world’s highest peaks including Mt. Everest, Jomolhari, Masang Gang, Jichu Drake, Gangche Ta and many more.
- During the trek an entire day will be dedicated to visiting some of the more picturesque lakes, fishing and resting. The trail also takes you through several Bhutanese villages so you can get a good idea of traditional Bhutanese village life as you make your way back from the lakes.
- While this is a somewhat strenuous trek, it is well worth the effort because of the tranquillity and beauty of natural landscape that you will enjoy during the journey. The best time to embark on this trek is between April to June or September to October.
