About the Destination:

A haven for nature lovers, Chopta is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, most of which are endemic to this region. Although Chopta Chandrashila trek is considered to be one of the simpler ones in the Himalayas, it nonetheless spectacular. In the shade of the Garhwal Himalayas, it will take you from bliss giving valleys of Ganges to crystal clear Lake of Devriyatal. The blessings that we ask for at the Panch Kedar temple Tungnath will strengthen us throughout the hike.
While the Chopta trek itself is spectacular, what makes this experience even more priceless is that it gives you the chance to go mountain biking! Zoom past the forests of alpine and rhododendron, in the august company of the Himalayas!

The excitement and allurement of the Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Trek starts right from the beginning. The occasionally steep climbs will not feel like uphill tasks as you walk through jungle trails surrounded by oak and birch trees, or, through verdant meadows filled with rhododendrons. The placid beauty of the place is punctuated by the chirping of birds, the soft laughter of a brook as it rolls over stones on the way and the whispering wind. The view of snow-capped mountain peaks against the backdrop of the beautiful Devariyatal or the breathtaking Chopta valley is an excellent ingredient for a perfect trekking experience. A walk through nature gives you ample opportunities to soak in the different moods of nature as they unravel at every step.
About the Departure:
A perfect blend of excitement, allurement, amazement culminating in ultimate admiration is what summarises the Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila trek. The first part of the trek is through a jungle of conifer trees, rhododendrons and ferns. The tall pine trees give you glimpses of snow capped peaks which can be clearly viewed from the emerald lake of Devariyatal. The forest gradually recedes and opens up to the spectacular Chopta valley. Explore the place before proceeding towards a tryst with another divine experience at Tungnath and Chandrashilla Top. The Top offers an all round view of some well-known peaks and many not so known that blend in layers of blue ranges. The trek is rough at times but not difficult at all. Enjoy the camping experience as you stay amidst nature experiencing its smell, sights and sounds to the fullest.

The village of Sari, about 7 hours from Rishikesh, houses the famous lake of Deoria Tal and is a base camp for several short and long hikes as it offers unparalleled views of Himalayan peaks such as Neelkanth and Kedar. As you cross Chopta, pass by a beautiful route filled with lush green meadows and the blooms of rhododendron. Seek the blessings at the Tungnath Temple of the Panch Kedar in Rudraprayag and ultimately open up to the views of Chandrashila peak (4,130m), that offers dramatic views of the valleys below.

Start trekking in Rishikesh towards Chandrashila Peak and meander through many picturesque villages and dreamy valleys. The trails remain easy with a gradual incline to reach to the fantastic scenery at Deoria Tal.
Progressing to Chopta, you will be going through meadows and dense forests, to reach the fabulous campsite that offers dreamlike views all around. Biking down to Syalsour, we give a thunderous finale to this expedition by river rafting in Rishikesh.

Chandrashila or ‘Moon Rock’, is snuggled high up in the summit of the majestic Tungnath. Situated at an altitude of 13,000ft above sea level, it offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas. This exotic peak has a lot of interesting legends associated with it. It is believed that Lord Rama meditated on this beautiful peak, after defeating the demon king Ravana, another legend goes on to say that the Moon god spent time here in penance. With its virgin unmatched beauty, Chandrashilla peak is joy to behold.
