The route from Leh-Khardungla-Deskit-Hemis-Leh is known as valley of flowers. We spend an entire day in Leh, acclimatize and then move forward. In Leh every place is at walking distance. We visit the leh market, Shanti Stupa, Palace and hall of fame.
From here we move to Nubra valley that is 120 kms from Leh. From here we will proceed to Khardungla, the highest motorable pass in the world. There is a time to cross khardungla. Anytime between 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. is alright to cross this pass. It falls in the essential route that was used to transfer goods to Siachen.
Diskit is the on the way and is popular for Diskit monastery. Diskit gompa is the oldest in the world. It lies in the Nubra valley of Ladakh. In February, the monastery hosts Dosmoche, or the festival of scapegoat. Another beautiful monastery called the Hemis monastery is Tibetan in origin and belongs to drukpa lineage. It is situated 45 kms of Leh. It hosts the colorful hemis festival each year.
Journey back to Leh is filled with glimpses of colorful valleys and endless skies. The route is gorgeous and is open mainly during summers.
