About the Activity:
- Start your expedition from the parking in front of Le Paradise Hotel around 7 AM to catch a glimpse of some of the most endangered rarest species of birds on the planet.
- This bird-watching tour planned on a half day basis offers you the opportunity to discover these one of a kind species in their natural habitat.
- The tour takes place in the Black-River Gorges National Park a heaven kind of paradise that consist of hundreds of kilometer trails and breathtaking views.
- Throughout the day, look for endangered Mauritian pink pigeons, echo parakeets, dodo trees and black ebony trees whit the help of a professional guide.
- Also enjoy a nice little picnic and an amazing show the curious native birds put on in their natural habitat and this tour is available only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

- Once you reach the top spend some quality time marveling the stunning views of the Bel Ombre forest and authentic south seas.
- You’ll hike back to the starting point through the same trail. The trek can be accessed from early morning to late evenings.

The Black River Gorges is the largest national park in Mauritius. Famous for its waterfalls, vistas and hiking, the gorge is in the central highlands, making it cooler than much of the island.
The "Black River Gorges" National park is a national park in the hilly south-western part of Mauritius. The park extends over an area of 6,754 hectares. With the help of the guides, you will discover Mauritius' natural heritage in this unique area which is also the location of one of the rarest forests in the world. It harbors about 311 species of native and endemic flowering plants and 9 species of birds, which are found only in Mauritius.
This hike will take you into the heart of the indigenous forest with many panoramic views.

- Enjoy the walk along the ridge, up and down between the endemic trees, exotic plants and Chinese guava bushes.
- This hike offers beautiful views over Chamarel in the St Denis Valley, the hills above the Coloured earth, Le Morne mountain and Ile aux Benitiers island on the south-west coast.
- Get excited to know the last part of the trail which is very rugged and rough terrains so ropes will be carried to help you up.
- Then trail back down the hill following the same track with an option of ending the hike on the road leading to Chamarel and 7 Coloured earths.
