L’Île Rousseau, also known as Rousseau Island, is a lovely little island park nestled right at the centre of the river Rhone. Linked by a bridge called Post des Bergues, the island takes its name after the noted writer-philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau. A beautiful statue of Jean-Jacques Rousseau also towers over the park.
Highlights:
The island is a magnet for locals and travellers alike. They usually wander there to escape the city life, seeking respite in the world of coffee, wine, baguettes, and everything French!
It is a great place to add into your itinerary, especially for a lazy lunch by the riverside. You are also treated to stunning views of the city, especially at night, when the skyline finds its beautiful reflection in the waters below.
