Located in the Western Ghats of South western Karnataka, this quaint peaceful hill station has become a favourite tourist spot for many an adventurer! The most loved and explored aspects of Coorg are its famous coffee plantations as well as the ethnic diversity of the people who reside there.
If climbing a famous peak has always been part of your dream, all you need to do is join other trekking enthusiasts in the exciting Kotebetta trekking experience! This peak is the third highest in Coorg after the Brahmagiri and Thadiyandamol, it is one of the most popular spots among the trekkers and is also known as ‘fort hill’ due to its resemblance to one.
About the Activity with Details:
Climbing up smooth roads is not fun for the hard core trekker, and so you needn’t expect anything of the sort from a trek to Kotebetta. While the initial route is tarred road, it soon begins to get muddy, followed by a smooth trail after.
The 20km Kotebetta trekking experience (to and fro) takes about four to five hours, but the sights around will make you forget the duration of the trek, or any of the challenges ahead! For the observant trekker, there is a beautiful Shiva Temple situated on the base of the Kotebetta Peak. Breathe in the smell of pure coffee as you pass through the various coffee estates.
You will begin the exciting trek from Madikeri Somvarpet Highway, and after 20-30km from Madikeri, the signpost will declare that you have reached Kotebetta on the left. You can relax in between intervals and interact with localities that traverse the areas in their bullock carts and have sips of coffee with them; and pack your memories full of Coorg!
