Yala, in Sri Lanka, comprises of a soothing village environment and rich cultural composition. Join this tour to visit all countryside attractions to learn rituals, beliefs and cultural elements of southern Sri Lanka and experience padding across the narrow lanes passing through paddy fields.

About the Activity:

The Village Expedition in Yala lets you explore the Sri Lankan village culture of Tissamaharama and Yala on a tuk-tuk and understand the lifestyle of the local people. Grab the chance to visit five wonderful lakes and enjoy the mesmerizing scenes and observe the different variety of birds. You also get to witness the lifestyle of curd makers and learn the art of making pottery and curd.

The package comes with the service of an English-speaking local guide and includes transportation by Tuk-Tuk. The package also provides bottled water & snacks and is inclusive of all government taxes.

Timings: The duration of the package is 4 hours which starts from 7:30 am and ends at 11:30 am.

Starting/Ending Point:  The package provides a comfortable pick up and drop-off facility from your hotel in Yala.

  • Day 1 -

    07:30: You will be picked up by a Tuk-Tuk from your hotel in Yala or Tissamaharama by a local guide for the village tour proceed to the starting point of the tour.

    08:00: Start a memorable Tuk-Tuk tour and explore five beautiful lakes. Ride around lakes and stop at scenic locations to capture breath-taking views. You will also witness monitors and bird species while your ride around the lake. Then you will proceed to witness how the clay pots are made. Make your own clay pot after learning the art of making it on a traditional wheel and take it back as a souvenir. It will leave you a lifetime experience. After seeing the life of a potter, you will be driven to see the curd making process. This tour will let you experience the unique village life style in Tissamaharama. Curd making is one of the main livelihoods of people here in Yala and Tissamaharama. The lady in this village house will teach you the secrets of making a delicious curd pot. At the end of the Curd making demonstration, you will be able to taste fresh curd with honey.

    11:30: At the end of the village tour you will be driven back to your hotel or drop-off location.
