About Valley of Flowers Trek:

Valley of Flowers "Foolon ki Ghati" is one of those beautiful trekking expeditions that can be enjoyed during the monsoon season. It is flawlessly nestled in the West Himalayan region of Uttarakhand and lies at a lofty height of 3600 m above sea level. With an opportunity to spot the very rare blue Primula, the Valley Of Flowers trek is one of the best-known treks in the world.

The Valley of Flowers is also believed to be the place from where Hanuman brought the magical herb to resuscitate Lakshman in the Hindu epic Ramayan. Just as you set your foot into the valley, the intoxicating mix of fragrances emitted from the flowers makes you feel in a paradise. The hidden lake at the height of 14,400 ft, creates a hidden coop for numerous species of wildflowers like the saxifrages, sedums, lilies, poppy, calendulas, daisies, geranium, zinnia, and petunia.

Valley of Flowers Trekking Package Inclusions:

Accommodations- 02 Nights Hotel accommodation on a triple/quad sharing basis at Govindghat. 03 Nights Hotel accommodation on a triple/quad sharing basis at Ghangaria.

Meals- All veg nutritious meals from dinner at Govindghat on Day 1st to breakfast at Govindghat on Day 6th. Morning evening tea served with light snacks are also included in the Valley of Flowers trekking package.

Safety equipment- First aid kit, oxygen cylinders, oximeter, etc. will be with guide/trek leader and at the campsite as well to deal with emergencies.

Expert trek Leaders-  All our trek leaders are at least qualified in basic/advanced mountaineering and first aid course.

How to reach Haridwar:

The Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib trek begins at Haridwar from where you get transferred to Govindghat, the starting point of the trek. It is located approximately 300 km away from Haridwar and the journey is covered in almost 10 hours. There are various routes that one can take in order to reach Haridwar from different parts of the country.

By Air: The nearest airport to Haridwar is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. Haridwar is located approximately 37 km away and can be reached by bus or taxi. It takes between one to two hours via Ambala - Haridwar - Dehradun road through NH 34 and NH 37. 

By Train: Haridwar has its own railway station which is the Haridwar Junction Railway Station. Regular trains operate between Haridwar and the major Indian cities making it a convenient and budget-friendly option. Shatabdi Express, Mussoorie Express, Upasana Express, Doon Express and Ahmedabad-Haridwar Express are some of the trains that run between Haridwar and New Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, etc. 

By Road: Haridwar is well connected by road to Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and other towns of Uttarakhand. You can drive your own car or travel on a bus by booking your seats in advance.

Day 1
Arrival in Rishikesh | Transfer from Rishikesh to Joshimath
As you reach Rishikesh, head towards the 60's Cafe (The Beatles), from where your adventurous journey to Joshimath begins. Along the way, you will be treated to breathtaking views of towering mountains and lush valleys, each turn of the road revealing a new wonder of nature. After the tiring and thrilling day of travelling, reach your campsite, settle-in at your camps for an overnight stay.

    Trek from Joshimath to Ghangaria
    Today, lace up your hiking boots and set off for Ghangaria, a charming village situated around forests and mountains. The trek is refreshing, with fresh mountain air and the sounds of nature surrounding you. With every ascent, you are rewarded with panoramic views of towering peaks of mist. After completing the short gradual ascent of 9 Km you will reach Ghangaria, a small village encircled by mountains. As you reach, settle-in at your camps, and set off to explore the beautiful surroundings.
    Activity: Trek from Joshimath to Ghangaria

    Trek Distance: 9 km | Duration: 4 hours | Elevation: 10,000 Ft.

    • Start off the day with an amazing lush green mountainous views.
    • Walk through the well-defined trail that passes through lush green forest and alongside the beautiful Alaknanda river and Lakshman Ganga River.
    • On the way, encounter the various dhabas from where you can get some refreshments and refill your water bottles.
    • Continue your journey, after walking through the trail, reach Ghangaria to settle-in your camps.

    Day 3
    Trek to Valley of Flowers
    This day will surely race up your heart with anticipation as you witness the famed Valley of Flowers. The trail is steep and stony, making your trek a bit difficult. Take your time, and soak in the beauty of this natural wonder before returning to Ghangaria.
    Activity: Trek to Valley of Flowers

    Trek Distance: 4 km | Duration: 7 hours | Elevation: 11,500 Ft.

    • Today will be the day you will scale a height of 3,505m to arrive at the Valley Of Flowers.
    • Ascend further into the valley to witness an array of thousands of colorful and vibrant flowers in full bloom.
    • It'll be hard to leave such a heavenly view behind, but you must timely begin the return trek to Ghangaria so as to reach there before dusk.
    • Descending from the beauty of the Valley of Flowers, embark on a serene downhill trek back to the charming village of Ghangaria. 
    • The trail winds its way through forests, where shafts of sunlight filter through the canopy, dappling the forest floor with a mosaic of light and shadow.
    • Before the sunset, you will be trekking back to Ghangaria and enjoy your time exploring the surrounding.
    Day 4
    Trek to Hemkund Sahib
    Wake up early to the sounds of the people chanting bhajans in the chorus and enjoy a hot cup of chai. Today, your trek to Hemkund Sahib is a bit difficult as the path is a steep ascent and a trekking stick can come in handy. On the way, witness snow-capped mountains and crystal clear Hemkund lake. Spend time in quiet reflection before heading back to Ghangaria for an overnight stay.

    Trek Distance: 5 km | Duration: 7 hours | Elevation: 14,100 Ft.

    • Experience the beauty of spirituality as you trek from Ghangharia to Hemkund Sahib.
    • Walk slowly and take numerous breaks as you will feel the effects of reduced oxygen levels in the air.
    • Reach Hemkund Sahib, a religious site where Guru Gobind Singh is said to have meditated in the previous life.
    • Surrounded by seven snow-capped mountains and crystal clear Hemkund lake just behind it, this place is no doubt soothing and calming.
    • In the late afternoon, start the steep descent all the way back to Ghangaria.
    • Descend through lush mountain slopes with rhododendron blooms and pine trees, offers a scenic backdrop to the journey.
    • Pause along the way to admire panoramic vistas of the surrounding that you witnessed earlier, each turn revealing a new perspective of the majestic Himalayan landscape.
    Day 5
    Downhill Trek from Ghangaria to Joshimath
    In the morning, you will be starting the easy descent to Joshimath on the same trail that you trekked on earlier. After traveling through the same trail and witnessing the attractions and beauty from a different perspective, you will reach Joshimath. Upon reaching, settle-in your camps for an overnight stay and explore the nearby surrounding.
    Activity: Downhill Trek from Ghangaria to Joshimath

    Trek Distance: 9 km | Duration: 4 hours | Elevation: 10,000 Ft.

    • Start your day by descending from the Ghangaria on the downhill trek towards Joshimath, a charming town situated in the Himalayas.
    • As you bid farewell to the serene landscapes and warm hospitality of Ghangaria, a sense of nostalgia mingles with anticipation.

    Know Before You Go for Valley of Flowers Trek

    • The trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travellers littering may be fined.
    • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
    • Avoid using earphones during the trek; this might hinder your audibility.
    • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
    • In case, the trek needs to be cancelled, the authorities should be informed beforehand.
    • Please provide a valid ID at the time of check-in.
    • The exact location will be shared with you post-booking.
    • Neat and clean vehicle for the journey with experienced driver especially for hilly terrains available.
    • All the activities depend upon the weather.
    • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
    • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
    • Since Valley of Flowers is a monsoon trek, there are possibilities of roadblocks due to landslides. Account for this by adding a buffer day in your travel plan.
    • The management reserves all the right to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
    • Professional guide(s) are available to ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek.
    • Hotels are basic in nature. One must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
    • Mobile & laptop charging points may/may not be available at a common point.
    • Avoid consumption of alcohol or any other intoxicants during the Valley of Flowers Uttarakhand trek.
    • Permit charges are not included in the Valley of Flowers trek.
    • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes, raincoat and the right kind of shoes for the trek.
    • Pay heed to the trek leaders and guide in order to enjoy a safe and sound trek.
    • Transportation to and fro from Haridwar Railway Station is available on additional charges on request
    • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the Valley of Flowers Trekking package.
    • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for Valley of Flowers Uttarakhand Trek.
    • Some of the locations covered in the trek are time constrained, so in order to make the most out of the package try adhering to the timelines shared by the trek leaders.
    • Itineraries are based on information available at the time of planning and are subject to change. "Thrillophilia'' reserves the right to change expedition dates, people or itineraries as conditions warrant If a trip must be delayed or the itinerary changed due to bad weather, road conditions, transportation delays, government intervention, airline schedules, sickness, or other contingency for which Thrilllophilia or its agents cannot make provision, the cost of delays and/or other changes are the responsibility of the participant. Thrillophilia reserves the right to decline, or accept, any individual as a trip member for any reason whatsoever.
    • Liability for change in itinerary due to reasons beyond our control like a change in flight and train schedule, cancellation of flights/1trains, political disturbances, natural phenomenon, roadblocks, etc. will not be accommodated in the package cost. No bill will be reimbursed for any missed service/facility.
    • During a trip, in case the roads are blocked due to landslides or a reason that is beyond control, Thrillophilia will rearrange the itinerary for the travellers real-time, however, the cost of alternative accommodation will be borne by the customer as the hotels pre-booked execute their cancellation policies and are nonrefundable.
    • Because of any reason natural or personal, if the Trek or a particular activity is not completed, no refund will be processed.
    • The difference in the cost shall be borne by the client in case of any amendment in the package due to change in the number of guests, hotel change, itinerary change, etc.
    • If in case any traveller wants to or decides to leave the trip in the middle, all the expenses from that point onwards will be borne by the traveller. Neither the operator nor Thrillophilia will be held responsible for such decisions or for any refund.
    • The refund or compensation is also not issued if for any reason you have to come down from the trek. The trek leader may send you down from the trek, owing to reasons like lack of fitness, AMS, blood pressure, turn-around-time, health issues, or if you are found smoking/ drinking, or breaking the rules of the trek. refund or compensation are issued only when the whole trek is cancelled or called off on behalf of Thrillophilia.
    • At Thrillophilia, we almost never call off or cancel our treks. But in the rare event we might have to call off or cancel a trek due to any unforeseen natural catastrophes like continuous rain or snow, thunderstorms, snowstorms, landslides, floods, earthquakes, or any other natural calamity or other issues like local riots, curfews, pandemics, lockdowns, government orders, or any such situations that might prevent a safe trekking experience. In such cases, Thrillophilia will issue a Credit note summing up to the same amount as your trek fee that can be redeemed on any of the treks over a period of the next year.
