Starting first day from Spituk to Zingchen 3700 m this takes 4-5 hours.
We begin our journey in a jeep. The roads are very dry with a very exposed land, so we need water and protection against the sun. After travelling for 3 hours, the landscape becomes greener as we move into the Zingchen Valley, where the Rumbak river flows into the Indus. In the small village of Zingchen we will find our camp, which means ˜big field. Rest of the day is reserved for enjoying the view and we can also take a dip in the river.
Moving from Zingchen to Rumbak 3900 m it takes 3-4 hours.
Next day we will enter Hemis National Park, home to the famous Snow Leopard, Blue Sheep, Ladakhi Urial (a type of goat), great Tibetan sheep (Arghali), red fox, Tibetan wolf, wild dog (dhole), Lynx, marmot and mountain hare. Then our climbing session starts, we climb gradually up to the village of Rumbak, which is known as a place to see and research the Himalayan snow leopard.
Starting from Rumbak to Mancarmo 4200 m via Stok la 4900 m which takes 5 - 6 hrs.
The third day is to track up to the base of Stok la (4900 m). We will witness the astonishing views of the Indus valley and remarkable colorful rocks and the formations at Stok la. From here we will move along the mountain side moving up and down until we reach some houses made by stones. The first camp for the Stok Kangri approach is our camp site Mancarmo.
From Mancarmo to Stok (3-4 hrs)
After breakfast, we start moving to Stok village. There is a narrow valley of beautiful rock patterns. We will visit the Stok palace which is currently a museum. It was built in 1840 for the Ladakhi royal family. A 30 minutes drive from here will take us back to the Leh.
