Sky Diving – A New Era of Indian Adventure

Sky Diving – A New Era of Indian Adventure

It’s one life you have, live it to the fullest. Climb peaks, but heighten the thrill meter by soaring over one! Tick off your high-altitude recklessness and get ready to skydive around the world’s best spots. Costing anywhere between $150 and $15,000, it’s all about the thrill of flying in seventh heaven for those destined to fly high.

Sky-diving in India is still in its nascent stage. Introduced as an aero-sport by Agni Aviation in Bangalore in 1994, skydiving in India has definitely grown and films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara are only popularizing it. Today, several camps for skydiving in India are conducted across Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Gujarat and Indore more popularly. These camps offer Tandem Jumping, where a first-time skydiver is strapped to a professional and they descend together, as well as Static Line Jumping where a skydiver is trained for 2-3 days before making the first fall.

Skydiving in India is often advertised by various camp organizers. In fact, the Gujarat government has taken keen interest in this sport and has regular camps organized at Ahmedabad and Deesa. And for those who love to take the thrill global, here are some must-visit spots:

  • Jump out of your plane in Wollongong, Sydney, and soar over the beautiful view of the Australian coastline, with whales and dolphins flapping below.
  • At a drop of 15,000 feet, Seville in Spain makes for a fabulous dive.
  • Now let’s get to some REAL Action! Head off to the heights of Kamchatka peninsula in Russia and skydive over a smoking mountain.
  • Those who prefer something cooler, float in the skies above the world’s highest waterfalls, the Victoria, in Zambia. If you’re lucky, you may spot a rewarding rainbow.
  • For those who love the greens, fly Hawaii. Not only is the island dotted with green patches and views of the Diamond Head, Pearl Harbour and Kaena Point, even the skydiving airplanes help reduce carbon footprint by 40%.
  • A dive of your life along the Adriatic Sea, the Le Marche in Italy offers a picture postcard view.
  • Want a change from the regular? Try the 10,000-feet desert jump on Namibia’s dunes.
  • A perfect place to introduce adventurous 12-year-olds to skydiving, Mauritius offers tandem skydiving and throws into your falling face some fantabulous views.
  • Cut to the adventure capital of the world, New Zealand, and dive from 12,000 feet onto the Fox Glacier. Soar above the Franz Josef Glacier, pristine lakes, rainforests and the Tasman Sea.
  • The breathtaking Swiss Alps claim a top spot in the best skydiving places in the world. Reasonably priced, the Interlaken in Switzerland offers some great skydiving packages.
  • The bonanza, however, lies at the priciest one – the Mount Everest in Nepal. Offering only four skydiving trips a year, this is possibly the best way to fall from the skies.

Wherever you skydive, follow your instinct with regard to the equipment and training. Ensure you review the skydiving company. After all, a free fall shouldn’t land you in a hospital. Read all that you can about skydiving facts – you sure don’t want to be taken by an unpleasant surprise do you? But in the end, remember that skydiving is not scarier than a rollercoaster ride. So simply fly!

And for those who love flying, you should try your hand at some more adventure activities like paragliding, parasailing, bungee jumping and hot air ballooning. For perfect arrangements of these activities, contact Thrillophillia right away. After all, the world’s more beautiful from high up, don’t you think!
