Attiveri Reservoir was created as a result of the dam built on Tayawwanahalla in the village of Attiveri. The abundance of aquatic life attracted many birds to the reservoir—both migratory and native.

Therefore, the place was developed into a bird sanctuary. The area surrounding the reservoir has riverine and deciduous forests. One can trek up 2 km from Hungund village to reach Attveri.

Around 79 species of birds have been found, which includes migratory birds from 22 countries. Also, about 50 species are aquatic birds while the other birds are arboreal and terrestrial in nature.

Flora: A. leucophlea, Artocarpus integrifolius, Albizzia lebbeck, Acacia arabica, Dalbergia latifolia, Bombax malabarica, Tectona grandis, Borassus flabellifer and Bambusa arundianacea.
