Kakkabe is located about 50 km from Coorg and is bounded by lush green forests and coffee plantations. Thadiyendamol peak towers over the area. This picturesque hamlet is known for its honey production—the largest producer of honey in Southeast Asia. You can visit honey farms here, and also go for trekking in the rainforest.
One of the best recreational activities is angling and it requires an ideal setting, tranquility, and perfect water source that harbours the prized catch. Located around 16 km from Kakkabe, Kadanga is one such destination for anglers in India. Here, opposite to Nalnad Palace flows a rivulet that is ideal for angling.
Trekking: The scenic trekking trails lead you to Mallamma Betta, Soma Male and Kabbe Pass. The best known trekking route takes you up-hill to Thadiyendamol.

Igguthappa Temple: It is one of the most important temples of the Kodvas which is the main tribe inhabiting Kakkabe. The temple is dedicated to Iguthappa, another name of Lord Subramanya. An annual festival is celebrated during the month of March.
Nilakandi Waterfall: It is an enchanting waterfall located at a short trek of 3 km. One can also explore as many as 28 other shorter treks in the area with the help of a guide.
Madikeri: It is a land blessed with misty hills and lush green forests. The place is well known for its serenity and picturesque view. The place has numerous tourist spots to explore. Some of the major attractions are Madikeri Fort, Raja’s Seat, Omkareswara Temple and Vijaya Vinayaka Temple. The place is also famous for its Orange groves, tea and coffee plantations, and Sandalwood and rosewood trees. Madikeri is located 35 km from Kakkabe.

How to Reach:
Kakkabe is well connected by road. If you are driving from Bangalore, then you can reach Kakkabe from Srirangapatan on the Mysore Express way, from there take the Hunsur Road, the road which leads to Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary to Virajpet.
From Virajpet, you will have to take the Madikeri road and taking left from here after traveling for about 4 km, you will reach Kakkabe village. The total distance by road from Bangalore to Kakkabe is 250+ km.
Kakkabe is also well connected by the state transport bus service KSRTC. These buses connect Kakkabe with all the major cities and towns in and around Karnataka. One can also board the buses coming from Mangalore and Kozhikode which pass through Kakkabe village.
The nearest railheads are at Mysore 125+ km, Hassan 115+ km and Kanur 110+ km. The major junction near Kakkabe is Mangalore Junction which is well connected by most of the major cities in and around India. Reaching here, one can hire a taxi to reach Kakkabe.
