Loyally Ladakhi Love – A Couple’s Confession to Ladakh

With Love, From Ladakh
Geetika’s Love Travelogue from The Land of High Passes

People forget years and remember moments.”
Ann Beattie

We sneaked into someone’s private property to pluck and eat green apples and plums. And they tasted much yummier than the ones we’d have bought from the market ;).” Such is the tale of this couple’s confession to the Land of High Passes,
Welcome to the Geetika Joshi’s travelogue of Ladakhi confession.

The Actor of the Story – Geetika Joshi

Each one of us has a friend or a friend’s friend, whose best friends are the road and the feet. Each time we open our social media account, it surprises us to receive news from the west, or east, or north, or south that this person is on the roads yet again. All we wonder is, how?
Meet Geetika, the same friend we have carefully described in the previous paragraph. A corporate trainer by profession, Geetika is an avid traveller by passion. In talks post her trip to Ladakh, we teasingly asked her if she sleeps with a travel bag packed, she burst into laughter and came back with the response, No, but I spend most of my waking hours planning my next trip.”
Her bucket list has scuba diving at Andaman and Nicobar Islands, witnessing the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights in Finland; and skiing in Austria. No wonder her favourite quote is, I am in love with cities I have never been to, and people I have never met.”

The Beginning of Love – Planning the Trip

Geetika and her partner found their smiles when the hidden rainbow came out

Ladakh, as a destination, is one which all of us have been planning for quite some time, thanks to the platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We all keep seeing those ‘lucky travelers’ making their debut trip to the land of high passes Leh-Ladakh, while we promise ourselves that we’ll go soon as well.
Likewise, planning that unforgettable trip to Ladakh was always present on Geetika’s mind, and she would keep searching for flight rates and best packages whenever she could. She frankly told us in her talks with us, post her trip,I always wanted to visit Leh-Ladakh as it is one of the most picturesque locations in the country. All this was not easy, though. She did a thorough research into the different companies which would offer different packages for Ladakh and Leh sightseeing, and finally settled for Thrillophilia’s this package.

The Final Confession – Itinerary for touring Ladakh

The confession started unfolding on the night of 9th of August, 2017 when the couple took a connecting flight from Bhopal to Leh and reached the valley of Ladakh on the 10th of August, 2017. Little did they know that an unbreakable love triangle was taking shape in the air of Ladakh; a love triangle between the couple and the Ladakhi vibes.

Over 6 nights and 7 days, their confessions took them across the locales of Leh, white sands of Nubra and the blue water of Pangong Tso. Let’s read a little more about the romance that took place under the amber skies of Ladakh.

It all began at Leh

As the couple was about to land at the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh, the announcement panel in the aircraft came to life and the pilot announced the restriction to take any photos at the airport.
Nevertheless, landing at Leh is, in itself, a beautiful experience. One feels the power of the majestic mountains that sit silently on the vividly-natured throne of Ladakh and make us feel insignificantly greedy to be a part of the terrain, right after we have landed.

Geetika and her partner soak the natural beauty of Ladakh

Geetika and her partner were taken to the comforts of their hotel rooms from the airport, where they acclimatized for the day. The first day was aimed at resting the bodies since the level of altitude and temperature drastically changes for anyone entering into Leh. Of course, the lovely couple did take a casual stroll into the lanes of Leh, and soaked themselves into the local culture, as the sunset on the western front. The next day, the couple visited monasteries and stupas and went sightseeing across the city, where time stopped ages ago and everything is calm and beautiful. As we said, it all began in Leh!

It continued to the white sands of Nubra

The white sands of Nubra were proof enough to the love confessions that were constantly taking place between the lovely couple and the Ladakh valley. On Day 3, the couple continued their journey from Leh, through Khardung La (considered to be the highest motor-able pass in the world), to reach Hundur by late afternoon.
The overnight camp at Nubra Valley. Double-humped camels did not stop to amaze Geetika and her partner. In fact, they went on to take a quick ride of the mystical creature only known to be found in Nubra, in India

And Time lapsed from Nubra to Leh to Pangong Tso Lake!

The final leg of the confession took place under the blanket of a million stars in the quiet lake-side campsite of the Pangong Tso. This part of the trip had the deepest confessions being made. You can blame the picturesque location, all out. Really, even the blue waters of the Pangong Tso Lake would keep changing the flavour of its sky-blue colour, as the sun rays playfully entered the lake.
If this is not a place you would consider confessing your love to Ladakh, we do not know where else would you possibly want to do it. The couple camped overnight, and left with the early sun rays the next days to make their journey back to the city of Leh. When we asked her about the most memorable moments from the trip, Geetika spontaneously mentioned that it was Seeing the rainbow at the Pangong Tso Lake”.

Geetika takes a candid capture with the rainbow at the Pangong Tso campsite

Her trip ended with the couple returning to Leh, and catching a flight the next day, back to civilization and the daily life. She stated in her talks with Thrillophilia that her confession with Ladakh was just awesome. She goes on to add, Leh was surreal, and pictures can never do justice to the place.”
With love, from Ladakh.

  • Always stay hydrated
  • Lastly, do not expect five-star hotels, but intend to fall in love with Nature
