Munnar is a famous hill station, set at the elevation 1500 m. The whole region is surrounded by tea plants. The mountain forests are rich with its flora and fauna. Birds like Nigiri flycatcher, Nikgiri pipit. These birds are sighted clearly in surrounding areas too. Popularly known as a Wildlife Sanctuary, Chinnar covers an area of 90,422 sq km. You will pass through arid forests, moist grasslands and high shoals. On the way you may find deer, monkeys, Sambhar, and peacocks. An entire route is passes through undulated terrain and hilly patches which add charm to the splendid surroundings. The world of avian is the main attraction here. IGWLS means Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary is named after Indira Gandhi. The avian life such as great pied hornbill and Malabar grey hornbill. This sanctuary covers an area around 958 km sq. Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary is once known as Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary.
