Your Adventure Area: The Great Himalayan National Park, undoubtedly the most pristine mountain landscape in the Western Himalayas and perhaps the planet. From the Andes to Nepal and Tibet, to the mountains of Eastern Europe and Western China - the pressures of a growing human population have left the landscape – even so-called “national parks’ - overgrazed, denuded of timber, devoid of wildlife and covered with signs of animals and their shepherds. Ironically, here in India, home to over a billion people, it is still possible to find vast virgin forests and endless fields of wildflowers and ranges of un-named, unclimbed summits. Blue sheep, Himalayan Thar, even bear and snow leopard abound.
Day 01:
Morning arrival at Aut ( Kullu). Transfer by jeeps to SaiRopa which is the base in the Ecozone of the Great Himalayan National Park, India’s newest National Park. Breakfast, freshen up. Introduction to GHNP, biodiversity trail walk. Lunch and village visit to the trout Farm. Evening we can watch documentaries on the national park entitled voices and choices and “Valley of Gods o/n bonfire diner.
Day 02:
Morning Visit to the waterfall which is huge and a trek of about three hours. Come back to the base camp and do some amazing river crossing and rappelling from a 30 feet high rock near our camp
Day 03:
Forenoon:
Trekking to Rola (Trek to ROLA: Rola at the height of 6800 feet offers striking views of GHNP. It offers an easy to moderate trekking experience) Lunch on the way.
Afternoon:
Arrival at ROLA Tent pitching/ Relaxation/Forest Exploration & Bird watching session (The birds of GHNP are an important part of the Park's biological diversity and an attraction for bird watchers. The Park falls within one of the globally important Endemic Bird Areas identified by the ICDP Biodiversity Project.)
Evening
Camp Fire/Cultural Program/Antakshri program. Overnight stay follows in Camps.
Day 04:
A Day in nature: Walk inside a prime forest toward Chalocha “The Tree God”. This jungle is home to the Western Tragopan one of the rarest birds on our planet and only found here in the wild in the whole world. Have lunch by the river and come back to camp Rolla . There is a huge rock besides the camp at Rolla where we would practice Rock Climbing before Sundown. o/n Nati Dance with BTCA staff. Overnight stay in tents in Rolla.
Day 05:
Trek back from Rola to camp base from a different route from which we came. The new route takes us to some of the remotest villages of the Himalayas where we would have a firsthand experience of how the mountain people live and their lifestyle. Evening Participate in a cultural evening performing a street play for a local audience comprising of residents of surrounding villages to convey the message of conservation and sustainable development (in conjunction with volunteers from BTCA, a local NGO).
The Society for Biodiversity Tourism and Community Advancement is a dynamic, young NGO (Non- Governmental Organization) engaged in enhancement of local livelihoods and promoting conservation in the villages in the buffer zone of the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP). BTCA has a group of volunteers (KALAA-JATTHA) that spreads the message of conservation through street plays all year round. The members can then work with BTCA personnel to design the street-play at a suitable location in the Eco-Zone according to their experience.
Day 06:
Morning Departure to Jalori Pass and a small nature walk to Raghavpur Fort to have the view of the Himalayas. Have hot lunch at Jalori Pass or on way back at Jibhi. Evening bonfire dinner with local songs. Overnight stay follows in SaiRopa
Day 07:
Morning Start for Kullu river rafting in Kullu. The rafting here is the original 14 km stretch of grade three rapids as the Beas is joined by a major river Parvati at Bhuntar. Lunch at Rafting Point Continue to Manali via the lest bank which gives you panoramic views of the Hmalayas. On arrival ckeck in Hotel Tourist.
Day 08:
Morning Visit Rohtang pass and have a high flying adventure enroute. You fly with Destination Himalayas the best company for paragliding in India. In the evening, you can take Volvo buses back to Delhi starting from Manali.
