South zone Southern Western Ghats Birding tour

 

South Zone or South Western Ghats offers unusual rambling plants and lush green lands on hills. These are the most enzootic regions of birds on earth. The paradise of wildlife lovers and nature gazers Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary is bounded by the Western Ghats. It is the hugest breeding water bird reserve which has attracted lakhs of birds every year.

Day 01:


You will be received at an International Airport or Railway station. You are free to explore Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala.

 

Day 02: Neyyar


Neyyar national park is home to various birds like King Fishers, Water hen, Woodpeckers, Indian Cuckoos, Hill Mynas, Little Egrets, Darters, white breasted water hen, Brahminy Kites. Deer farm, Crocodile Rearing Centre and Lion Safari are the main attractions which set near the dam site.

 

Day 03: Peppara


Start for Peppara wildlife sanctuary, where you may click some birds such as, Nilgiri langur and Malabar squirrel. If you are lucky, you may also find some water birds like darter, little cormorant, pied king fisher and egrets.

 

Day 04: Mundanthurai


The pristine atmosphere of Mumdanthurai sanctuary offers you to view different birds like pied hornbill, Indian hornbill, grey headed bulbul, tailed grass warbler, and oriental bay owl. Mumdanthurai sanctuary provides you an opportunity to view the lofty peaks such as the Anaimudi (Anaimalai Hills) and Doddabetta (Nilgiri Hills).

 

Day 05: Koonthakulam

 

The most visited sanctuary is maintained by the local villagers. Generally, birds come to their backyards for protection. The people of village have keen interest in protecting this sanctuary and its birds as well.

 

Day 06: Trivandrum


On the last day of your trip, you need to go back to Trivendrum.
