Pin Parvat Trek

 

The Pin Parvati valley of Spiti is said to be the most beautiful in the region. The trek route is crossing over from the Kullu valley and will take us through the most spectacular landscapes. It provides an experience to remember for life. The trek begins at Manikaran and winds along the raging Parvati River till the glaciated Pin-Parvati Pass (4900m).


Pin Valley is formed by the Pin river, which rises on the eastern slopes of Pin- Parvati Pass (3500m) and meets the Spiti river exactly opposite Lingti village. On the way the Parahio Nala near Pokchung joins it. Parahio valley has several peaks and glaciers and it has been declared as a National Park. Pin valley is much more rugged and barren than the main Spiti valley.


Our journey will commence from Manali. Progressively in first phase, we will move through dense alpine forest , followed by bushes, lakes, wild flower, pasture, peaks with long glacier, continuing to North lunar landscapes, sky rocketing peaks that illuminate the valley in dazzling hues of white, Gray, green and golden yellow with the rising sun.


Further crossing the natural rock bridge at Pandu, we will reach at Mantalai Lake, which is a famous Hindu pilgrimage. At top of Pin Parvati 5319 metres we will have panoramic views of numerous peaks like, Parvati South, Parvati North, Pinnacle and Kullu Eiger.


The trek ends at the small picturesque village of Sagnum / Mikkim, surrounded by lovely barley fields. From here, a Jeep Safari into the Spiti Valley offers opportunities of visiting beautiful ancient Gompas of Kungri, Tabo, Dhankar, Lahlung and Ki as well as Kibber, 2nd highest permanently inhabited villages in the world, before returning to Manali.

Day 01:


Manali – Manikaran- Pulga (100 km) 4-5 HRS

After an early morning breakfast, we will travel by jeep from Manali (85 km). Manikaran is a holy place for both Sikhs and Hindus alike and also has the world’s hottest sulphur spring. Start trekking from Manikaran to Pulga (15 km) through the forest road and we will have our lunch on the way to Pulga. Dinner and overnight stay follow in tents.

 

Day02:


Pulga-Khirganga (4-5 HRS) 2,960 m

After breakfast with the packed lunch we will start our normal ascent through villages, fields and forests. Khirganga is a holy place with hot water springs. Have dinner and stay overnight in tents.

 

Day03:


Khirganga-Tunda Bhuj (6-7 HRS) 3,285 m

After breakfast we start our trek with packed lunch through forest to reach Tunda Bhuj. From here we will cross the trail through several delightful pastures supporting a variety of wildflowers in the summer. Dinner and overnight stay follow in tents.

 

Day04:


Thunda Bhuj-Thakar Kuan (6-7 HRS) 3,560 m

After breakfast, start trekking through birch forests, crossing rocks and dense vegetation. This section of valley is difficult at places as the trail frequently skirts rock faces that are difficult for laden porters. Have lunch during the trek; reach Thakur Kuan above the cliff section. Dinner and overnight stay follow in tents

 

Day05:


Thakar Kuan-Pandu Bridge (4-5 HRS) 3,700 m

After breakfast start trek beyond Thakar Kaun with the packed lunch, the trail passes several Gaddi encampments before crossing a side river by a natural rock bridge. Trek for 12 km to reach Pandu Bridge. Have dinner and stay overnight in tents.

 

Day06:


Pandu Bridge-Mantalai Lake (4-5 HRS) 4,116 m

After breakfast, we will start trekking 15 km to reach Mantalia Lake, the source of Parvati River. With packed lunch which will be served on the way to Mantalai Lake. There is a choice of grassy camp-sites just beyond Mantalai. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

 

Day07:


Matalai Lake-Camp I (4-5 HRS) 4,573 MTR

After having light food, we will walk over the glacier & moraine with packed lunch and cross small lakes & streams to reach camp I on the base of Pin Parvati pass. Dinner and overnight stay follow in tents.

 

Day08:


Camp I- Camp II (4-5 HRS) 5,319 MTR

After breakfast, we will cross over the Pin Parvati Pass with packed lunch and enjoy the view of several peaks of Kullu & Spiti region. The descent from the pass is gradual, over a snowfield. Set up the camp near the confluence of Pin River with other small streams. Have dinner and stay overnight in tents.

 

Day09:


Camp II - Chinpatta Maidan (4-5 HRS) 3,955 MTR


After breakfast, we will descend to the valley along the left bank of Pin River. Have lunch on the way to Chinpatta Maidan. Dinner and overnight stay follows in tents at Chinpatta Maidan.

 

Day10:


Chinpatta Maidan-Mud (5-6 HRS) 3,811 MTR

Have breakfast, then we will start our trek with packed lunch from here down to the first village of Pin valley, Mud. Dinner and overnight stay follow in tents.

 

Day 11:


Mud-Sagnam (5-6 HRS) 3,650 MTR

After breakfast, we will start trekking for Sagnam village with packed lunch. Sagnam is a big village on the confluence of Pin and Parahio rivers. Have dinner and stay overnight in tents at Sagnam.

 

Day 12:


Sagnam-Dhankar –Kaza

Have breakfast, start trekking from Sagnam to Dhankar Monastery; here we will have our packed lunch. This monastery rests high over the valley and is a colossal example of local architecture. From here, we will drive to Kaza. Dinner and overnight stay follow in the hotel.

 

Day13:


Kaza-Manali (225 kms)


After breakfast, in morning we will explore Key monastery and drive to Manali with packed lunch via Kunzum Pass and Rohtang Pass. Arrive at Manali by early evening, upon arrival in Manali, we will check into hotel. Have dinner and stay overnight in the hotel.
