Namdapha National Park is set on the bank of Brahmaputra River around 62 km from Margherita. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 180782 hectares. You will be excited about its abundant wildlife. The most exotic spot offers lots of exhilaration. Experience the bio diversity of Namdapha. Besides lofty trees, rich flora and fauna, this spot is also famous for its tigers, leopards, elephants, wild dogs. The main attractions of the park are noa-Dehing, Deban and Namdapha Rivers. Namdapha has 150 tree species and umpteen flowers and orchids. One of the most uncommon includes the Blue Vanda. The valley makes this park a botanical harbour.
Day 1: Arrive Dibrugarh
On the very first day of your journey, arrive at Dibrugarh. Here you will be welcomed by the representative. Get transferred to hotel. At night, respite for some time and give rest to your legs too. Before starting for Namdapha forest, ensure about your kits and keep essential things ready.
Day 2: Dibrugarh – Miao -Deban
In the sunny morning, you travel to Deban via Miao. The drive of 150km will take 7 to 8hrs to reach Miao. Get done with entry formalities at the check post. Thereafter, a short will bring you to Deban. It is the forest rest house, where you can stay for couple of nights. A convenient rest house overlooks the pleasant Neo Dhing River.
Day 3: Deban – Gibbon’s Land – Deban [22km/8hrs]
After a complete leisurely breakfast, start trekking, around 11 km on the motorable road. A trek of nature lovers and bird watchers will let you experience the spectacular birdlife. Birds such as wood peckers, Yellow nape, Treepie, Na Red tailed etc. After cherishing the close nature, get back to Derban by evening. Over night stay is followed here at rest house.
Note: Namdapha is the house of five varieties of Leeches. You will have to use thick pair of socks up to knee height to defend yourself from leeches.
Day 4: Deban – Haldibari [6km/4hrs]
Early morning, after having light food, trek to the bank of Neo Dhing River. Here you get a chance for boating on ferry boat. Approach an experienced boatman. Pass through the torrent river which will bring you to the other side of the river. Your trek starts at an elevation of 300meters. The trek passes through a birding trail. Here you have an opportunity to come across with Malayan squirrel. After a hectic day, take rest at Haldibari (425m) camping site. Overnight stay is at camp.
Day 5: Haldibari – Hornbill Glade - Bulbulia [8km/5hrs]
Travel from Haldibari to reach Bulbulia via Hornbill Glade (520mtrs). It is the home of rufous-necked Hornbill. Set on the top of a hill, the shack of Bulbulia makes a perfect watch tower, from where you can the tree top canopy. It is an ideal destination for sighting. The spectacular vistas of black backed Forktails can be observed. Bulbuila is the domicile of Tawny fish and flying squirrels. Spend a night at Bulbulia.
Day 6: Bulbulia – Ranijheel - Bulbulia [5km each way/3.5hrs each way]
After having breakfast, walk up to Ranijheel, through caves beneath dense bamboo patches. You may find red headed parrot bill and red billed scimitar babbler. There are most gangling trees of Namdapha beautifully ornamented with most unusual orchids. Birdlife includes Grey peacock pheasant, hornbills, hawk eagles. Ranijheel is well known for white winged duck. Get back to Bulbulia Camp before sun sets. Take night halt at Bulbulia.
Day 7: Bulbulia –Deban [14km/7hrs]
Next day trek starts from Bulbulia, walk up to Neo Dhing River bank. Stay in Deban forest rest house at night.
Day 8: Deban – Dibrugarh [150km/8hrs]
After breakfast travel back to Dibrugarh, and check into hotel. Take night halt in Dibrugarh.
Day 9: Dibrugarh—return airport/rly station transfer
Get back to Dibrugarh airport or railway station.
