Some of the leading places of Meghalaya are Krem Mawmluh, Krem Phyllut, Mawsynram, Mawsmai and Siju. These caves are of various formations. Nature has gifted these caves which are known as wonder. In this tour, you will be exploring Krem Mawkhyrdop, where cave fauna are un-comparable and represent one of the important components of biodiversity. Krem Dam is the broadest sandstone cave in the Indian sub-continent. The only show Cave in Meghalaya is Mawsmai, stocked with light. Krem Lymput is rich with its calcite formations. The last phase of this tour is Krem Mawjymbuin, now known as a holy shrine.
Day 1:- The First Cave Krem Mawkhyrdop
It is also known as Krem Mawmluh. Its entrance is set at the bottom of the western flank of Lum Lawbah. It is easily reached after crossing the river behind the cement works of the Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited. You can reach to the main sink entrance by wading through water, which turns into a deadly black quicksand from the effluents of the cements works. Through a high level bypass entrance, you can reach parallel to the main passage.
Day 2: Krem Dam and Mawsmai Cave
An eye-popping entrance of Krem Dam is located at the base of a large blind valley to the east of Mawsynram village. Run down to the valley, that enters into the cave. The cave boasts of one large river passage, ends in a roof collapse where daylight can be seen. The cave has no significant calcite formations. Visit Sohra market and explore the village of Mawsmai. After visiting the village, you will pass through grasslands surrounded by for-ests. From clearing walk to a concrete footpath through the jungle leads up to the main cave entrance. Reach to the only full fledged cave, divided into two parts. Both have astonishing formations of large passages and chambers.
Day 3: Krem Lymput
Located 6 km from the village of Nongjri, this cave has invisible entrance in the jungle. An easy and beautiful cave has the small entrance hole. Walk about an hour on the main trunk with inclined walls and ceiling towards west into a passage known as 'Way to Heaven”. A slippery climb leads into the galleries, loaded with calcite formations. The Mughal Room is the main attraction here. This cave is 6641meters in length.
Day 4: Krem Mawjymbuin
This cave is formed in calcareous sandstone, only 209 meters in height. Pass through a metal led road on the left leads to a parking area by the cave. Its entrance has a large stalactite over a female stalagmite which gives a mental picture of a Shiva Lingam. According to Hindu believers, this cave has now become a sacred shrine. Follow the small stream under the left wall of the chamber. Enter into a side passage, which leads to east and ends in a boulder collapse. There is another side passageway at the back of the chamber forms a succession of small channels.
