The journey through Himachal Pradesh presents a vivid picture of lush green meadows, excitable rocky ravines, rich temperate flora in sub tropical latitudes and attractive fauna. In this Ladakhi experience, we will be visiting renowned monasteries. In short Ladakh or Ladakh Treks are blend of adventure and mysticism. The best time to visit this place is March to June and September to November. Our journey will start from Delhi to Manali. On first phase we will visit, Manali, Bakkarthach, moving further we will visit Beas Kund, is a small water body on the true left side of the glacier draining one of the many trickles which joins to form the mighty Beas. It is considered to be the source of the river. Legend says that Rishi Vyas, the author of the great epic Mahabharata and Vedas would meditate up at the Rohtang Pass area and would come for his daily bath to this lake. Then after, we will go to Camp1 and Camp 2. Here we will get a chance to stay in camps on different places. Our last destination will be Base camp.
Day 01: Delhi – Manali (1960m)
We will start our journey with a drive from Delhi to Manali. We will reach Manali by late evening. Overnight stay is in a hotel.
Day 02: In Manali
On the second day, after an early morning breakfast we will get ready with our equipments to climb. Then after, we can explore the town. We will have options to visit the Hadimba temple, the Vashisht hot water springs or the Roerich Art Gallery in Naggar. In the night, we will have our dinner in a hotel at Manali.
Day 03: In Manali
Early in the morning after having breakfast we will drive for 2 hrs up to the Rohtang pass, and hike 2-3 hrs to get acclimatized. We will take a lunch at the pass and drive back to Manali. Then after, we pack up for the climb.
Day 04: Manali – Bakkarthach (3328m) 1hr drive and 3-4 hrs trek
After an early morning breakfast we will drive for 1 hr via Palchan and Solang Nallah to Dhundi (2850m). The short run goes along the river Beas before crossing it and then ascends steeply to reach the grazing grounds of Bakkarthach. Get back into the hotel and relish our dinner there.
Day 05: Bakkarthach – Beas Kund Base Camp (3586m) 2-3 hrs
On this day early in the morning, after having light food we will start a steep climb for an hour from the camp, which brings us to the Beas Kund glacier on the south facing slopes of the mighty Pir Panjal range. There is a short walk over the moraine from here which brings us to the planes of the Beas Kund dotted with a numerous small streams. Depending on the access to the snow/ice we set up Base Camp. Stay at night in camps there and enjoy your dinner in a mesmerizing atmosphere.
Day 06: At Base Camp (3586m)
This day will be spent at the base camp and practicing movement on snow / ice. We will try to get familiar with the use of equipments. Stay at night in camps.
Day 07: Base Camp – Camp I. 5-6 hrs
On this day we will take at trek from Beas kund to Camp 1 with a short acclimatization walk in the afternoon.
Day 08: Camp I to Camp II (5275 m) and back to Camp I
We will get up early in the morning to climb 3 hours to reach the Ladakhi col and set up Camp II at the snow field at the base of the peak. (Depending on the snow conditions, the route up to the col. will be fixing roped.
Day 09: Occupy Camp II
This day will be our rest day at Camp 2
Day 10: Camp II – Summit – Base Camp
After having our breakfast we will get ready quickly for climbing up to the summit. It’s best to be up at the summit early in the morning to make the best of the weather conditions and get good views. Get down to the base camp and enjoy the party in the evening.
Day 11: Base Camp – Manali. 3-4 hrs trek and 1 hr drive
A drive of 3-4 hrs will bring us to Dhundi. Stay at night in hotel of Manali.
Day 12: Manali – Delhi
On the last day we will drive from Manali to Chandigarh or to Delhi itself.
