Frozen River (Chadar) Trek
The traditional name for the Zanskar Trek is Chadar Trek as the river becomes a snow sheet during winters due to heavy snowfall. It boasts of some of the lowest temperatures making it a challenging trek for the adventurers.
The most isolated and inaccessible for nearly eight months in a year due to heavy snowfall resulting in closure of all the access passes; Zanskar has the distinction of being the least interfered with microcosms of Ladakh, and thus one of the last few surviving cultural satellites of Tibet. This geographical isolation together with the esoteric nature of Buddhism practiced here has enabled its ten thousand inhabitants to preserve and perpetuate their cultural identity.
There is a lot of trekking included in this trip. It commences in Chilling where from we get on with the new phase walk on the frozen Zanskar River. Thereafter, we trek till Lingshed to walk on Chadar.

Day 01.
We drive from Leh to Chiling by private bus or jeeps along with our porters from Pishu village of Zanskar. This takes 5 hours. We will visit coppersmith workshops.
Day 02.
Walk on ice of the frozen Zanskar river, Chadar, commences from Chiling, stage one to Zaribago, 5 hours.
Day 03.
Trek from Zaribago to Deepyokma. It will take approximately 4 hours.
Day 04.
Trek from Deepyokma to Nyrakpulu in 4 to 5 hours approximately; camp below Nyarak village, ten minutes up along a small stream.
Day 05
Trek from Nyarakpulu to Lingshed followed by one hour walk on Chadar and 5 hours steep climb up to Lingshed village; Stay in private house, relax in a heated room.
Day 06.
Today we spend the entire day relaxing in Lingshed, one of the most remote villages in Ladakh. We visit monastery, school for monks and roam around the village.
Day 07.
Today we trek from Lingshed to Nyrakpulu.
Day 08.
Today we trek from Nyrakpulu to Tsomopaldar.
Day 09.
Today we trek from Tsomapaldar to Tilatdo.
Day 10.
Today we trek from Tilatdo to Chiling and drive to Leh.
