Extreme Adventure Ladakh

National Geographic made an award winning documentary in the Rumbak Valley regarding Snow Leopards. The trek will give you a great opportunity to see several ancient monasteries, nice landscapes and villages rich in culture and agriculture. This package also brings an exhilarating and thrilling white water rafting from Chilling to Nimo.

Rumbak Valley trek starts from Leh where we visit many legendary monasteries of Thiksey, Hemis and Shey Palace. Thereafter, we will travel from Spituk to Stok on a journey of four days.

During the Journey we will see a number of open fields and beautiful rivers. We also visit the Hemis National Park where we get to see rare Indian Wildlife species. In Stok, we will visit the Royal Family palatial building which is a spectacular museum now.

On the fourth day, we will reach Rumbak Valley. As we approach Rumbak fields the valley suddenly opens up with snowcapped mountains in the background. From the fields, the path turns left eastwards for the Rumbak village.

Our next destination is chilling, where we will go for some River Rafting. The specialty of this trip is that there is a good amount of things to do in a short span of time.
Day 1: Arrival in Leh

On arrival at Leh airport we will be received by the representative and will be transferred to the Hotel. Check in to the hotel for a complete day of rest wherein the welcome tea/coffee will be served by the Hotel at arrival. Lunch will be served at 2.00 PM, after lunch visit Leh Market, Leh Palace, and Shanti Stupa. Stay overnight in a hotel.

Day 2: In Leh

Spend the entire day visiting the monasteries (85Kms). After breakfast, we will drive to visit the Shey Palace, Thiksey and Hemis monasteries. We will be given with Packed or Hot Lunch. Return to Leh in the evening. Stay overnight in a hotel.

Day 3 to Day 6: Spituk to Stok trek (4 days)

Day: 3 Spituk to Zingchen 3700 m (4-5 hours)

Our walk begins along an old jeep road on a very dry and exposed land, so water and protection against the sun are important. After 3 hours the landscape becomes greener as we go into the Zingchen Valley, where the Rumbak river flows into the Indus. Our camp is in the small village of Zingchen, which means ‘big field’, where there are just two houses. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying the view and maybe even a dip in the river.

Day : 4 Zingchen to Rumbak 3900 m (3-4 hours)

On this day, we enter Hemis National Park, home to the famous Snow Leopard, Blue Sheep, Ladakhi Urial (a type of goat), great Tibetan sheep (Arghali), red fox, Tibetan wolf, wild dog (dhole), Lynx, Marmot and Mountain hare. We start to climb gradually up to the village of Rumbak, through a beautiful gorge from which the Stok peaks come into view from time to time. Rumbak is known as a place where one can find a lot of natural beauty and if interested a research on the magnificent Himalayan snow leopards can be carried out here.

Day : 5 Rumbak to Mancarmo 4200 m via Stok la 4900 m (5 –6 hrs)

The trail up to the base of Stok la (4900 m) starts fairly gradually but becomes steeper as we approach the pass. Views of the Indus valley and remarkable colorful rock formations of Stok la will diminish the hardships of the climb. We move along the mountainside up and down until we reach some stone houses, used by the Stok villagers for summer pasture. Our campsite at Mancarmo is also a first camp for the Stok Kangri approach.

Day: 6 Mancarmo to Stok (3-4 hrs)

After breakfast, we start descending to Stok village through a narrow valley of beautiful rock patterns. It is possible to visit the Stok palace; which is currently a museum and was built in 1840 to house the Ladakhi royal family after the Dogra army had exiled them. The drive to Leh is about 30 minutes. Stay overnight at a hotel

Day 7 to Day 8: Rafting from Chilling to Alchi.

Day 7:

We raft 35 kms of Class III/IV white water from Chilling to Nimu (3154m; 10,345 ft; 3 hrs) on this day. We raft past the village of Tsogsti and exciting rapids as the Zanskar plunges out of the canyon to meet with the Indus at Nimu.

We end the day’s trip at the confluence of the Zanskar with the Indus, and spend the night at Nimo in Camps.

Day 8:

Another 30 Kms of rafting on the rapids of Zanskar and Indus River combined Class III/IV rapids. While the river is calm we can see the breathtaking landscapes, during this time we will be served with soft drinks and Lunch at a Scenic spot after Basgo. We will pass through village Basgo & Saspol, before reaching Alchi. At the end of the trip, we can explore Alchi village and Monasteries, and while coming back we can visit to Likir and Basgo the famous spots. Stay overnight at a hotel in Leh

Day 9:

Early in the morning, transfer to airport and fly back to Delhi with sweet memories of Ladakh.
