Classical Jeep Safari (Manali- Spiti-Kinnor-Shimla)

 

The Jeep Safari begins from Chandigarh to one of the remotest regions of Himachal Pradesh including the scintillating Spiti Valley & Kinnaur.It involves visiting remote valleys, villages and crossing over high mountain passes providing spectacular views of snow capped peaks, rugged terrain and old monasteries. We will also get a chance to visit one of the World's highest permanent village, Kibber in Spiti Valley.

Our journey will commence from Manali, here we will do sightseeing at Naggar. Then will move to Batal, where we would explore the famous lake. From here, we will further visit Kaza, where we will see tiny villages. A drive for some more time will bring us to Sichling and to Tabo, the panoramic views of the places are breath taking. We will drive from here to Kalpa via Nako.

From here, our journey will take us to Sangla. Couple of villages can be seen while going through Sarhan, Shimla and Kalka, which will be our last destination.
Day 1: Manali & Naggar sightseeing

We will be escorted by the local experienced Guide to absorb the wonderful sights, historic monuments and religious abodes at Manali and the beautiful alpine village of Naggar which is situated 21 kms from Manali. Thereafter, get back for a dip at the soothing and rejuvenating hot water springs at Vashisht. Housing is arranged at our camp at Prini. The camp staff will prepare a bonfire over dinner. Enjoy the dinner with bonfire. Attractions of this day are: Kullu valley, Hadimba devi temple, Manu maharishi temple, the club house, Gadhan theckchhokling gompa, the naggar castle, Roerich art gallery, Shiva temple and Jagathsukh temple. For adventure we will do paragliding at Halan valley, angling at aut, Yoga, reiki and ayurvedic massage at Vashisht.

Day 2: Manali to Batal

Drive to Batal which is approximately 100 kms from Manali. The journey consists of beautiful sceneries and breath-taking views. The journey requires usage of the famous Rohtang la located at a height of 3980 meters. Tents will be prepared at Batal for overnight stay with a heart warming bonfire to raise the spirits if the weather permits. We will explore Chandertal Lake (short hike).

Day 3: Batal to Kaza

After breakfast, drive to Kaza which is approximately 88 kms from Batal. The journey winds through mountain roads over the famous Kunzum la at a height of 4,558 meters with worthwhile scenery and a visit at the first village at Spiti, Losar. The tour will then proceed to the beautiful village of Kaza. Tents will be set up at Kaza and a scrumptious dinner will be prepared followed by a bonfire if the weather permits. We can get a chance to explore Losar village, where we will do adventure activities like horse riding and Yak riding.

Day 4: Kaza sightseeing

Kaza is the sub-divisional headquarters of Spiti and has abundant attractions with interesting places located nearby. It has the highest diesel and petrol deposit in the world. The tour provides a full day especially to cover these impressive locations adding value to your experience. We will take a glance at the famous monastery in Kibber village. Thereafter, we will move to Yang Yud Gompa.

Day 5: Kaza to Sichling

On this day, we will drive to Sichling which is approximately 20 kms from Kaza and the safari. The winds pass through the spectacular pin valley, infested with various species of birds and mammals. We would get a glimpse of the local wildlife on the way, however for a more intimate introduction with our local friends; it would be advisable to visit the pin valley national park. Tents will be prepared at sichling, with a bonfire if the weather permits. The main attractions of this day are Kungri village & gompa. Thereafter, we will explore Pin Valley national park.

Day 6: sichling to tabo

Early morning, we will start from tabo which is appropriately 48 kms from sichling; the jouney includes a visit to the famous dhankar gompa, which is far more ancient than the new Dhankar gompa at sichling. Tabo is the largest monastic complex in spiti and has many attractions that fascinate its visitors, including temples, chortens and the famous Tabo Gompa, which rightfully earns it the name “the Ajanta of the Himalayas”. Tabo is a beautiful location for camping and we are sure the overnight camp there would be a memorable experience; if the weather permits a bonfire would be lit to bring warmth to our hearts and souls. At Lalung gompa, the main attractions are: The golden temple, the mystic Mandala temple, the Bodhisattva Maitreya temple, the temple of Dromton and the chamber of picture treasures.

Day 7: Tabo to Nako

Start from Tabo to Nako which, Nako is 69 Kms from Tabo. Nako has a very authentic and characteristic Spiti Style decorated with its Gompas, Stucco Images and Murals. A tent will be provided at Nako proceeded with nutritious dinner and a bonfire provided the weather permits. In Nako village, the main attractions are Monastic Complex, The Upper Temple (Monastic Comp), Small White Temple (Monastic Comp), The Wide Proportions, The Footprint of Padmasambhava and the Seven Temples at Nako.

Day 8: Nako to Kalpa

Move from Nako to Kalpa which is approximately 125 Kms from Nako. En route the enchanting Satluj & Spiti Rivers will cast a spell on you with their exceeding charm and demand a stop along the way. Kalpa is blessed with exotic beauty and provides an ideal location for a slow absorption of the beautiful ranges, which inspires admiration and beautiful memories. Kalpa has wonderful attractions and adventure options providing a twist in the tale of the classical Jeep Safari. It provides opportunities for a serious adrenaline rush. We will get a chance to enjoy a dinner with bonfire. At Kalpa village, we will have the fabulous views of the Kinnaur Kailash, there is a 70 Meter Shiv Ling at the top of the peak and also we can see Chilgoza Plantations.

Day 9: Kalpa to Sangla

We will drive to Sangla which is approximately about 51 kms from Kalpa. The journey winds through the famous Recong Peo which is the district headquarters of Kinnaur. This route is populated with many interesting villages and provides an opportunity to absorb the local substance of Himachal. Tents will be set up at Sangla as well as a bonfire to stimulate a relaxation after the days adventure provided the weather permits. The foremost visit of temples like; Chanadika Devi can be done. A must visit to Kamru village and fort.

Day 10: Sangla

The Picturesque town of Sangla is located on the Banks of the famous Baspa River and it provides an Ideal location for Adventure Activities as well as a visit to Chitkul Village. Sangla homes some ancient monasteries and temples worth a look. The tents will be prepared at Sangla along with the bonfire depending on weather conditions. The visit to the temples like; Naga Temple, Sapni Village, Batseri Village, Chitkul Village,

Mata Devi Temple. The adventurous activities will take place like; Angling at Baspa River and White Water Rafting at Baspa River.


Day 11: Sangla to Sarahan

We will drive to Sarahan which is approximately 92 kms from Sangla. The Journey offers a display of true Kinnauri landscapes and vegetation. The village of Sarahan has some spectacular attractions making it a must visit location. The tents will be definitely set up along with a charming bonfire if the weather Gods permit. There are some famous temples to visit for example: Bhimakali Temple, Raja Bushahr Palace and Usha Temple

Day 12: Sarahan to Shimla

A drive from Sarahan, will take us to Shimla which is approximately at a distance of 184 kms. After the tiring drive, a nice comfortable room at the Hotel East Bourne awaits us and a much needed rest lures us into a rejuvenating sleep. En route we will stop at the attractive town of Rampur. The main attractions are the Padam Palace at Rampur, Sri Sat Nahan Temple, famous Site for Pashmina Wool

Day 13: In Shimla

Shimla is an enchanting capital and retains the old architectural style of the British Raj. The City is very pretty and makes for good viewing. There are numerous attractions in and around Shimla which we will be visiting throughout. Overnight stay follows at the Hotel. Here, we will explore The Institute of Advanced Studies, The Historical Complex, State Museum, Prospect Hill, Sankat Mochan Temple, Jakhoo Hills, The Mall and The Ridge

Day 14: Departure to Kalka

With heartfelt warmth, we will be dropped unwillingly at the Kalka Station and bid farewell. Take your onward journey.
