Chimmony Wild Life Sanctuary Trekking

 

Founded in 1984, Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary lies in the Mukundapuram district of Thrissur district. The head office of this sanctuary is at Echippara.

 

Partially Chimmony sanctuary lies in conjugation with Peechi-Vazhani wildlife sanctuary and Parambikulam wildlife sanctuary. This park has a good variety of Flora and fauna. The dam inside the forest is a beautiful place. It is between 40-110 m high. You also get to see Punda peak which is towards the east of the sanctuary. The park is rich in bird and animal species.

Day 01:


You reach the sanctuary by 8 am. Start trekking at 9 am through the deciduous, evergreen forests. The entire trek shall take 4 hours. After which you arrive at the campsite where you will be staying for the night. But before that you relax for a while and go bird watching in the evening. Dinner is at the camp after which you stay there itself.

 

Day 02:

 

In the morning you go for a bird watchin session. You return back have your breakfast and go for another 6 km hike where you might spot Drongos, bulbuls, Babblers, Wagtails etc. After that you come back to the camp. Have lunch pack your stuff and leave for home.

Things to Carry:


- A hat, cap or turban

- Sunscreen and sunglasses

- Long-sleeve shirt, long trousers, sneakers or other type of solid shoes. Remember, the sun is fierce!

- Camera and film

- Toilet paper and towel

- Diary, pen, a book to read, cards or other games

- Medical kit (for just in case)

- A big smile and positive attitude
