The deepest and longest of the caves in South Asia are located in Meghalaya. Caving is a relatively new adventure activity that attracts a large number of tourists to India’s North Eastern states, specifically Meghalaya. The Meghalayan caves are a mix of very large caves with beautiful formations are well mapped and are easily accessible and some very small ones which are hardly accessible. Caves are located in almost all the districts of the state.

Cave exploration has been an offbeat sport for foreigners especially from UK and Germany. Many international cave explorers every year visit Meghalaya. Their caving expeditions mainly compromises of serious caving which comes after hundreds of hours of experimenting inside the caves.
