Binsar Trek

 


Binsar is also called Jhandi Dhar and it is at a height of 2412 m. The trek starts at Binsar and the first destination is Dhaulachina. The walk here is gradual and after 3 hours of constant alking you will arrive at Dalar village. From Dhaulachina you move to Saukiya tal. The view of Nandadevu here is mind blowing. You cross a dense forest and arrive at Bridhajageshwar. Here you can camp overnight near Shiva temple with Kumaun and Garhwal mountain ranges in the background. Next spot is jageshwar which is on the other side of the hill. This place is known for its 1000 year old temple. You walk from here towards east until you reach dandeshwar temple. From here you take a 18 km hike to Dhauladevi and start your backwards journey.

Major Attractions:

Jageshwar: This one is counted amongst the 12 jyotirlings and boasts of very beautiful surroundings. It has several small shrines which are dedicated to Mritunjaya, pushtidevi etc. The residing god here is Shiva. Still you will find a strong Buddhist taste in the carvings of the temple. Binsar wildlife is also known for it's amazing natural beauty. It is among the best tourist place in India.
How to get there:

By Air: Located at 24 km from Rishikesh, Jolly Grant is the closest airport. Though, taking a flight to this place is not advisable.

By Road: Road network is well connected to all major towns of Uttaranchal and surrounding areas.

By Rail: Rishikesh is linked to all the major towns and cities of India. Some of the links are accessible only from Haridwar.
Places to see nearby:

Almora: Almora is a pretty hill station in the shape of a horse shoe. Almora has several temples one among them is dedicated to goddess Nanda Devi. Almora is probably the only hill station which is developed by Indians. It has several orchards which have tasty fruits and worth paying a visit to.
Prerequisites/Facts/Suggestion:

• Dress warm when you are on altitude journey.

• You require moderate level of fitness to do this trek.

• Keep silence to enjoy the close proximity to the natural habitats.

• This trek is easy and doesn’t require any physical training before you set out.

• Always carry boosters like juices, candies, chocolates and water bottle.

• Learn some basics from guide.

• All the equipments are available for trekking.

• Avoid spoiling camping sites and the places around.

Best time to visit: Mid September to early July
